Give your 1% where it becomes a conversation.
Anyone who had taxable income in Hungary can direct 1% of their income tax. It costs nothing and takes a few minutes.
Below we walk you through when and how to do it, online and on paper.
The year has three important points.
If your employer prepares your tax return
Tell your payroll administrator that you want to direct your 1%. You will get a separate declaration form; our tax number goes there.
If you file your own return
The tax authority (NAV) prepares a draft for you, available online from then on. A few clicks are enough to say who your 1% goes to.
The deadline
This is the final deadline. After it you can no longer direct that year’s 1%, so it is better not to leave it to the last day.
There are two ways. Choose the one that is easier for you.
Both lead to the same place. If you are unsure, the paper route is perfectly fine too.
On the NAV website
Open the nav.gov.hu website and sign in to the eSZJA (tax return) portal. You can sign in with Ügyfélkapu or the Digital Citizenship (DÁP) app.
Select your draft tax return and choose the edit option or “I wish to allocate my 1%”.
Paste our tax number into the 1% field for civil organisations. The button copies it for you with one click.
If asked, you may also enter our name: EgyüttÉrzés Lelkigondozói Egyesület. This is optional, the tax number is enough.
Submit the return. The system confirms it — and you are done, there is nothing else to do.
On a form or at your workplace
Ask for the “EGYSZA” declaration (the 1% form) at your workplace or download it from the NAV website.
Write our tax number in the civil organisation row, legibly, including the hyphens.
Sign it and put it in a sealed envelope showing your name, address and tax identification number.
Hand it in to your workplace administrator or post it to NAV by 20 May.
What is worth knowing.
If you get stuck, we will help.
Write to us, and we will go through it together, even step by step over the phone. No need to puzzle over the form alone.
